In April of 1938, representatives from the USSR approached the Finnish government and expressed a concern that Nazi Germany could attempt to invade Russia, and such an attack might come through parts of Finland. The Finns replied that they were officially neutral, but any Nazi incursion on Finland's borders would be resisted. This did not mollify the Soviets. Hitler's manifesto, Mein Kampf, was published thirteen years previous with specific note that the Nazis would need to invade the Soviet Union. The Red Army was determined to "advance to meet the enemy" and refused to accept promises from the smaller country. As negotiations continued, the Soviets tried to coax Finland into leasing or ceding some area to serve as a buffer to Leningrad. In November 1939, however, all negotiations ceased, and on 30 November 1939 the Soviet Red Army invaded Finland.

Story.. The Supernatural Bunnymother of Surrey, Part 2
After St. André and Molyneux brought Mary's rabbits back to London, the King sent Cyriacus Ahlers, the surgeon from his German household, to Guildford for a second follow-up. When Ahlers was first admitted to Mary Toft's rooms, the patient had just given birth again, this time to a roll of rabbit pelt. But when Ahlers examined Toft he could find no sign of pregnancy. He did notice that as Toft walked about the room, she kept her knees close together, as if she were afraid something was going to fall out of her.
Soon Mary's labors began again. After three or four convulsions so violent Ahlers had to hold Toft's chair to the ground, Ahlers prodded Mary Toft's vagina and found "some broken bones" inside. A little further inside he felt "a fleshy body, which with the bones stood a little way out of the Orifice of the Vagina." In moments Howard took over and pulled the front part of another rabbit out of Mary. It was her sixteenth birth. Ahlers collected the parts and returned to London, where he received word that rabbit number seventeen had just been born. But Ahlers remained skeptical.
Story.... The Supernatural Bunnymother of Surrey..Part 1
Found this rather interesting story, and i thought it wise to share with you, i am sure you would love the story as i did too.. Enjoy..
The men from London arrived just in time to see Mary Toft give birth to her fifteenth rabbit.
It was the winter of 1726, and Nathaniel St. André and Samuel Molyneux arrived in the market town of Godalming in Surrey to meet Mary Toft, a short, stout peasant of "stupid and sullen temper" (per St. André's later, embittered description). They found the country-woman waiting at the house of local man-midwife John Howard. She was lingering on the edge of a bed, stripped down to her corset. Howard assured the Londoners that they had come just in time.
Soon Mary Toft's body began to twist and contort. Her throes could be so powerful that her clothes would fly off her body, and the woman would have to be held down in her chair. Sometimes the labors lasted up to a day and a half. Toft's belly would "leap," a phenomenon Howard thought was caused by baby rabbits jumping around inside Toft's uterus. One was observed to hop like this for eighteen hours.
But that winter day, the labor was not prolonged, and soon Toft had delivered her child--the skinned torso of a small rabbit. The men from London started dissecting it right there on the floor. St. André--surgeon anatomist to the King of England himself--took a section of lung and put it in a basin of water. It floated, showing that the lungs had air in them, which suggested that the creature had breathed before it died. The rabbit's anus was found to have feces in it, which meant that the small animal must have eaten something. There was no blood.
Day 6...What a week?

Word of Encouragement.....Be inspired
I got this very inspiring note from a "cousin" of mine, I call him a cousin because he is too close to me, he is a superb young man, with an excellent personality. Do read and get inspired too...
In bed, I was asking myself; "what are some of the secrets to success in life?" I found the answer right there in my very room. The fan said,"be cool", the roof said, "aim high", the window said, "see the world" ,the clock said, "every minute is precious", the mirror said, "reflect before you act". The calendar said, "be up to date". The door said, "push hard for your goals". The Rug said "kneel down and pray".The toilet said "flush the Bad habits that will deter u from becoming someone influential in life! The Bible laughed and said, "read me for direction".
Have a blessed weekend....

Heart breaking......Africa is out....
After a mind bowing encounter between Germany and Algeria, Germany knocked out the hopes of africans via this 2014 world up in Brazil by beating Algeria 2 goals, hope would have been restored when Algeria scored their only goal but time was against them.
Germany will face France in the quarter finals encounter in Brazil, you really do ot want to miss out in the obvious tenacity of that match. Africa came close but its rather poignant that we are out, though hopeful that world cup 2016 will bring us better luck.
Goals scored during the Germany vs Algeria encounter were from Andre Schuerrle and Mesut Oezil for Germany and Abdelmoum for Algeria. This world cup now between the Europes and the Americans, one will wonder who wll lift up the 2014 world cup, France/Brazil/Germany/Netherlands or winners of the remaining part of the round of sixteen. Let's see as the World cup unfolds.....

France crushes Nigeria out of the worrld cup in Brazil
Its no news that the super eagles of Nigeria had their world cup hopes trashed by France, the 1998 world cup champions. Prior to the match, several Nigerian fans had hoped that the super eagles will scale through to the quarter finals, but I am sure that by now that vision has turned into a nightmare as most of Nigerian fans are not happy with the results.
France stole the victory after a free header from Pogba stabbed the super eagles on her right eye causing a confusion and lack of concentration which led to the own goal rom Yobo. Nigeria is out from the 2014 world cup in Brazil as France advances to the quarter finals.
From us here on GTB, we feel that the super eagles played their best ad did the nation proud. We shall improve in 2016, hopefully.....

Life series... Season 2..Life as likened to respiration
Last time on life series, we had a long
discussion on how life is linked with movement, I am sure you all enjoyed the
inspiring messages from that post. This week, we shall be looking at life as
linked or likened with respiration. I will try to keep this post as short as
possible.
Firstly, respiration to a layman is
breathing in and out or inhaling and exhaling, to a more learned man, it is the
taking in of Oxygen (Inhaling) into the body and the removal of Carbon dioxide
(Exhaling) from the body into the environment. The truth is that the both of
them did very fine, but a bit in-depth study (cellular respiration) informs us
that respiration also involves the breakdown of glucose (simple sugar or food
molecules) involving Oxygen and water to produce energy (ATP), water and the
release of carbon dioxide at the cellular level or cells of every living thing,
hence, if you do not take in oxygen, you won’t be able to produce the needed
energy for you to move on with your daily activities. Also during blood
circulation, oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood move via the heart
enabling the proper function of the body, in layman sense, oxygenated blood
leaves the heart to the body, and after usage it returns to the heart as
deoxygenated blood, hence the circulation continues again. In essence,
respiration in living things is very crucial to their survival.
Ikemba and the Cripple....Chapter 3
The sudden appearance of human-like figures in the middle of
the river caused a big panic and scattered screams as villagers who had gone to
the river to either fetch water or wash their unclean clothes ran for their
dare lives. Sensing this, Ojinta called out to them as they ran even further,
probably thinking he was a ghost and wanted to kill them. It took the bravery
of Oma, one of Ojinta’s daughters to calm the people down as she called out to
them saying “this is my father, this is my father, papa, papa, papa, welcome
back”, as she ran very excited towards her father. Meanwhile, the three warriors
who survived the rescue mission, the Princess and Amara, the lady who they had rescued
from being raped, were very surprised to see that they have returned safely to
Lorji, infact they gazed at Ojinta strangely, because they never knew he had
such powers, unknown to them that Ojinta had collected the charm from the
priest they visited before embarking on the rescue mission to Ikanga village.
One after the other, the shocked villagers regained their confidence and moved
towards the river to observe what would happen when Oma hugs her father, seeing
that all went well, they all moved towards Ojinta and his team, touching them
and most importantly greeting the princess before they burst into songs of
victory.
