Well, a lot happened on the said date....

While some were more of superstitious, others were funny...

There was a report of a boy, born on this day and by 12:12pm too, some said he was the anti-christ (though i laffed it off), others felt is was miraculous and significant, i say it is normal jawe..

I heard of a sermon from a church, attributing a lot to the said date, if u recall, it was on a Wednesday, so there were services in the christian hood, almost all church held one service or the other, well, the said church told the members that the day was important and another wont cum until 3012, about a thousand years, hence dey need to place emphasis on it, funny how this may sound but the offerings returned on the said date, 12-12-12, in this church and am sure so many others were very high....Na members dey suffer am pass..

Yes, my people, weda na 12-12-12 or 24-24-24, all na day and nothing special about am, infact,e go add nothing special to u, so make una wise up o,another one dey cum,13-13-13, dem fit even say na another miraculous day....Be wise....Its Just a day..

The only special day that would profit u something is the Seventh day that the Lord, our God himself rested and instructed us to do the same.

It took me a while to get back, did i just say a while?, it was like months oooo..

I am back from my long holiday, didnt go MIA though, but it was a refreshing moment...

It all started with series of network problems, then it metamorphosed into my laptop issues, the finaaly went for my NYSC Orientation at Ekiti..

RIP ALUU 4

    

Goodnight Pain. "thieves, thieves" he screamed, it was almost funny. Not until more voices joined the chorus as they screamed and shouted on us. We could have ran at least to save our lives, but our intentions were genuine and little did we know how the day would end. From a handful of young men shouting and throwing questions at us, it escalated to a crowd of angry mob. There was no way we could escape this one, so we calmed down. They pushed us around and then stripped us all. These men pulled us pants down, we were more than embarrassed, the whole community watched, I recognized few faces from the crowd. Obviously they were so afraid to say "stop" then the beating started, I wished it to be just a nightmare. But it was real, these men were determined. They dropped heavy rocks on our heads, they pounded our faces with large planks, blood covered our eyes, they matched and kicked us right on our bleeding nostrils, we couldn't breathe.

Thus nutrition plays an important role in the reproduction of poverty from one generation to the next.

Ideally, good nutrition is assured by a varied diet rich in meat, root, grain, fruit and vegetable foods. In reality, for a majority of the world’s population such variety in food is unaffordable or seasonally unavailable. If you have a poor diet it makes you less able to resist disease, so the diseases come more frequently and they last longer.

Unknown gunmen in Ejigbo, Osun State, on Tuesday, kidnapped the wife of the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam.

Muiba, the first wife of the Speaker, was kidnapped in the Bamagay Square area of the town shortly after she had left her shop where she sold bags of rice, semovita and groundnut oil.

Her Honda car was overtaken by the vehicle of a six-member gang. The gang reportedly forced her Honda car to stop along Union Baptist Road in the Oke-Oyo area of Ejigbo, the Speaker’s hometown.

Govt fights flood with N17.6b

           

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday announced that the Federal Government has raised a total of N17.6 billion to tackle the flood currently ravaging the nation.

Speaking in a national broadcast, President Jonathan said that out of the total sum of N17.6 billion, the Federal Government has allocated a total sum of N13.3 to affected states while Federal Government agencies whose activities directly impact on the current flood amelioration programme will receive N4.3 billion. Out of this amount, the government, through it’s agencies, has so far expended the sum of N1.409 billion in providing short gap measures to the flood victims.

Jonathan said: “Based on the present assessment, the states have been categorized into four groups, A to D.

Mrs. Jane Toku, the mother of Lloyd, one of the four undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt that were lynched at Aluu community in Rivers State, says her son’s death will always haunt her.

She also expressed shock that the crowd could watch how her son and his friends were gruesomely murdered. Jane spoke with Punch correspondent amid tears on Monday in Port Harcourt.

Jane said, “When we got there, one of them was still breathing. He was gasping for breath, but the crowd…they were all there watching while my baby (Lloyd) was butchered. Come to my area and ask questions about my child; the child I trained.

“Penultimate Sunday, we went to church, Salvation Ministry; that is where he worshipped. We all went together for the second service. He stayed back for the remaining service. When he came back, he started preparing to go to school. I can still see him as I talk to you.

“He brought out a book; ‘How Faith Works’ by David Ibiyomie and he said ‘Mummy, read this book and you will know what faith is all about. By the time I come back on Friday, you will tell me what faith is all about.’

Woman delivers quadruplets at home.

Who said it is impossible to deliver at home, Well testimonies have been shared in the past of successful child deliveries at home, though in this case FOUR children were delivered.

Wednesday, in Bauchi when the wife of a peasant farmer gave birth to quadruplets at home with help from a traditional midwife. The farmer’s wife, 25-year-old Murjinatu Yusuf’s babies, all girls, weighed between 0.6 and 1.2 kilogrammes. They live at Gajin Duguri village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state, while the lawmaker’s wife, Aishatu  Abdul-kadir, 31, is from Kirfi Local Government Area.

                            

Murjinatu’s husband, Salisu Yusuf, 30, is however, unhappy as his farmland was washed away during last week’s flood that swept across the state. Yusuf, now a father of nine, said he was at cross-roads on how to provide for his family.

He said: “I thank God for these four children that He has given me. Everybody is surprised because this is the first time that this is happening in my village and even in the state. I pray that God should keep them for us and bless them.

“I am pleading with the government to help me. Flood has swept off my farm from where I feed my family. I used to buy six to seven mudus of corn to feed my family per meal, but now I do not know how we will survive.”

2013- The Fast and the Furious 6.

                                                  
From the inception of its first appearance in 2009, Fast and Furious has come to stay. It is an American street racing action film directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan. After the recently released Fast 5 that blew our mind, well, I for one really enjoyed that movie, The Director and his group has done it again.

Fast and Furious 6 (alternatively known as Fast Six) is the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious film series. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker,Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Luke Evans will star.

Filming locations also include the Canary Islands and Glasgow, Scotland. The film is scheduled for release on May 24, 2013.On February 15, 2012, Johnson confirmed that Fast Six would begin filming in May 2012, with some of the production to take place in the United Kingdom and Germany. Johnson stated that the two intended sequels would no longer be filmed simultaneously because of weather issues in filming locations, and that production on Fast Seven would only begin after the completion of Fast Six. However, filming did not officially begin until July 30, 2012.

SCIENCE: Acne-fighting virus discovered

Phage virus that occurs naturally on human skin found to kill the bacteria that causes the distressing skin condition

 

Acne vulgaris (cystic acne or simply acne) is a common human skin disease, characterized by areas of skin with seborrhea (scaly red skin), comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules (pinheads), pustules(pimples), nodules (large papules) and possibly scarring. 

Acne affects mostly skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles; these areas include the face, the upper part of the chest, and the back. Severe acne isinflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms. The lesions are caused by changes in pilosebaceous units, skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland, changes that require androgen stimulation (Wikipedia).

US researchers found that the phage virus can kill Propionibacterium acnes - the bacteria that cause acne.They discovered 11 different versions of the virus, which can be used to target the blocked pores that trigger the skin condition.

Hopefully, this discovery may be used as a therapy in the cure or control or prevention of Acne.
